About Little Wave

Who is behind Petite Vague?

Petite Vague is a family project born in Hossegor, nestled between the ocean and the forest. We design clocks and handcrafted objects inspired by the ocean, combining wood and recycled plastic.

Why “Little Wave”?

Because each creation is a ripple, a footprint of the ocean in your daily life. And because it's often the small waves that change the world.

Manufacturing & materials

Where are your products manufactured?

All our items are handcrafted in Hossegor, in southwest France. Each piece passes through our hands.

What materials do you use?

We mainly work with two materials:

Ecological wood fiber , for its simplicity, texture and resistance.

Recycled plastic , which we collect via a short circuit thanks to the RESAK association. It comes from the beaches and surrounding areas of the Basque Country and Landes.

Is each piece unique?

Yes! Especially those in the Circular ♥ collection made from recycled plastic. The pattern, shades, and shine vary each time—like waves. That's what makes each item unique.

Tide clocks

How do your tide clocks work?

They indicate the state of the tide (rising or falling) using a single hand. The complete cycle of a tide lasts approximately 12 hours and 25 minutes, so the clock turns twice a day. It does not tell the time, but the rhythm of the ocean .

Is this accurate?

Yes, if you set it correctly from the start. A slight drift is natural (about 30 minutes per month); a small monthly adjustment is sufficient.

How do I set my clock?

Consult a tide forecasting app or website (like maree.info or SHOM.fr ), identify the time of the next high tide, and position the needle on “HIGH” at that precise moment. Then, let it rotate naturally. A step-by-step guide is available here 👈

Can I use it anywhere in the world?

Our clocks are designed to work on semi-diurnal coasts, such as those in France. Some areas (particularly in northern Brittany or abroad) have mixed or diurnal tides: the clock will be less reliable there.
